The trick is to look like you have spent a lot of money but in reality you could be wearing something a cheap as chips.  I bought a pair of cream trousers in Penneys about 5 years ago for only €20 and they are still going strong.  I have of course bought many pairs since both expensive and cheap, some in boutiques and some in department stores, but this pair seems like they will last forever. Dress them up with a nice top – spend a bit of money here so it lifts the outfit, a nice pair of shoes – maybe your seasonal Good pair (see tip 1),  and bag to match and you are good to go.

Aren't they fab

Aren't they fab

If you have visited my blog, you will already know that I am a shopaholic but I did not mention that I have a shoe fetish.  I have bought 2 pairs in the last 7 days.  I justified these (rule no. 2) by saying that one pair was for work and it matched my bag (also bough recently) and the other, well wasn’t I promising myself a pair of shoes from one of my favourite shoe shop, Shoebaloo in Waterford City for months now (in my head it sounded like a valid justification) .

These Adrian Vidal shoes will be my Good pair for the summer, every girl needs their Good pair of shoes.  Think back to when you were a child, you always had your Good pair of shoes that you wore to on Sundays and special occasions., and  didn’t they last for ages.  Well use the same rule to the new expensive pair of shoes, only wear them for special occasions and don’t wear them out to the pub or clubs or, yes you guessed it, they will be covered in scuff marks and dribbled beer and if your really unlucky, some vomit.

When the summer is on the way out and you have worn the shoes to a few sophisticated dinner, communion or christening then go mad, wear them to pubs and clubs, let people trample all over them -  soon those open toed shoes will be thrown into the wardrobe and lets face it, you wont wear them next year, they wont be fashionable.

Then, its Autumn, another season, another pair of Good shoes

Welcome to my brand new blog designed to help all you shopaholics out there.  I started a blog for work but to be honest there was only so much I could say about web marketing so this evening on my way back from a meeting in Wexford I was thinking, what could I blog about and then it hit me like a bolt of lightening – I love to shop so why not share my story with all you gals (and maybe some guys) out there.

I was not always a shopaholic,  but I have found in recent years that I do love it and I heard somewhere that it was good for you, apparently it gets the heart rate up so its like a session in the gym :-) .   I do have some rules though:

1. Always pay the bills first – this is the most important one.

2. Make sure I can justify the purchase – it will be great with the pair of trousers – this bag will be great with that outfit :-) , always valid reasons (or they are valid in my mind :-) )

3. Make sure I only buy things that I will actually wear, this one took years of learning, its not easy.
