General Shopping

Is the cold snap getting you down?  Cannot get out to the sales?  Want to do some discount shopping online?

I am getting cold sweats not being able to get out to the shops, the weather has me all a tizzy. Thank God for online shopping, I have found some great dicounts online and within days they are at my door. If you want to spice things up, try some lingerie from www.figleaves.com .  Looking for some household good or fashion, try www.littlewoodsireland.ie – I found some great bargains but one downfall with this site is that a lot of the clothes appear to be sold out. And we cannot forget the all important www.ebay.ie or www.ebay.co.uk.

Its been a while since I blogged, been very busy in work but dont worry I have still been finding time for shopping.  I went out last weekend and did half my Christmas Shopping.  The way I see it, you have less chance of buying the same gift for someone if you are buying from Autumn stock . Also if you are paid monthly like me, it means that there are only 3 more paychecks until Christmas so best to get some of it out-of-the-way early.  Now I will be sure to have some spends for myself around Christmas and my January bills wont suffer.   I will be getting some of my gifts from www.giftgallery.ie  – a great gift voucher site.

I heard my first Christmas ad a few weeks ago, I love Christmas but is it getting earlier every year or am I just imagining things.

Went shopping in Cork City at the weekend and I am putting it as my number one place to shop in Ireland.   All you want on a couple of streets.  Lovely people and thankfully the weather was great.  Popped into the English Market and there is certainly a deal to be had there http://www.corkenglishmarket.ie/

Watch Mr Bean go shopping…….

Too big yippee

Too big yippee

Isn’t it great when you head into a shop, pick out your size only to find when you try it on that its too big – and this all happens without having to eat rabbit food and pound the pavement for weeks before.  I was in Next last weekend in Cardiff and this very thing happened.   Its the perfect place to shop for anyone conscious about our size – and aren’t we all :0)  .

Cliff House Hotel - What a View

Cliff House Hotel - What a View

I had to tell you all about The Cliff  House Hotel in Ardmore, this is a wonderful boutique hotel with Spa in West Waterford and well worth a visit. The decor is fab and the food, well I only had lunch but its amazing how a bowl of soup and open chicken sandwich can taste when prepared by the experts.  Now lets talk about the views, the hotel is literally on the edge of a cliff so you walk into reception and all you can see if water and if you look slightly to the left you can see a nearby beach. The views are out of this world.

Unfortunately I was there on business but  my wedding anniversary and birthday are coming up soon so the brochure will be left on the kitchen table and some very BIG HINTS will be left for my husband – lets hope he picks up on them.   Visit their website on http://www.thecliffhousehotel.com

I was chatting with a freind today, she is a few months pregnant and looking great on it but she is having difficulty getting maternity wear.  Why is it that a lot of the maternity wear shops have closed or department stores have stopped selling them?  The good news is that I have been doing some research online and there are a few online stores that might come in handy for all you Mums to be.

Bump Basics – appears to have a good range at good prices

Asos - trendy affordable clothes

Fun Mum – the name says it all

Happy shopping all your new Mums to be – some day I am sure it will be shopping for maternity clothes so good to know where to go :-)

The trick is to look like you have spent a lot of money but in reality you could be wearing something a cheap as chips.  I bought a pair of cream trousers in Penneys about 5 years ago for only €20 and they are still going strong.  I have of course bought many pairs since both expensive and cheap, some in boutiques and some in department stores, but this pair seems like they will last forever. Dress them up with a nice top – spend a bit of money here so it lifts the outfit, a nice pair of shoes – maybe your seasonal Good pair (see tip 1),  and bag to match and you are good to go.

Aren't they fab

Aren't they fab

If you have visited my blog, you will already know that I am a shopaholic but I did not mention that I have a shoe fetish.  I have bought 2 pairs in the last 7 days.  I justified these (rule no. 2) by saying that one pair was for work and it matched my bag (also bough recently) and the other, well wasn’t I promising myself a pair of shoes from one of my favourite shoe shop, Shoebaloo in Waterford City for months now (in my head it sounded like a valid justification) .

These Adrian Vidal shoes will be my Good pair for the summer, every girl needs their Good pair of shoes.  Think back to when you were a child, you always had your Good pair of shoes that you wore to on Sundays and special occasions., and  didn’t they last for ages.  Well use the same rule to the new expensive pair of shoes, only wear them for special occasions and don’t wear them out to the pub or clubs or, yes you guessed it, they will be covered in scuff marks and dribbled beer and if your really unlucky, some vomit.

When the summer is on the way out and you have worn the shoes to a few sophisticated dinner, communion or christening then go mad, wear them to pubs and clubs, let people trample all over them -  soon those open toed shoes will be thrown into the wardrobe and lets face it, you wont wear them next year, they wont be fashionable.

Then, its Autumn, another season, another pair of Good shoes
